Jesus, the Rescuer!

Jesus, the Rescuer! 15/05/14

Bible reading Isaiah 63 vs 1 -18

We live in a time and dispensation where the desire of human being is further and further away from its creator and the result is the overriding power of evil that is dominating lives. The powers that overtake people’s lives are predominantly initiated by desires that give such powers the overriding edge. Human beings are susceptible to powers so it’s been difficult to experience real humanity! Real humanity is when we live in freedom. When we are able to enjoy the liberty that Christ avails us through his cross. By this I mean, on the cross is where we were set free. Col. 2 vs 13 -15 God made us alive in Christ…He forgave our sins… cancelled the written code that was against us…he took 2 | Page it away nailing it to the Cross…He disarmed powers and authorities, made a public spectacle of them, triumph over them by the cross… At the cross is where our humanity began…

We have been given fullness in Christ … who is the head over power and authority… Col 2:10 God planned our rescue by initiating the redemption pathway from the birth to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Jesus is not an invitation; He is the rescue. My life is a proof that God is powerful… He extended his saving power and saved me… his healing power; healed me… It was a demonstration of power that gets anybody saved. He had to disarm what was holding you and I, then we became saved. So my life and your life as a believer is a testimony to God’s power and might! If you see anyone who is saved and professes Jesus as Lord and saviour, he/she is the evidence of God’s power on display. That is why Paul said in Roman 1 vs 16, I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes… GNV reads… I have complete confidence in the gospel; it is God’s power to save all who believe…

Whenever, our lives portrays Christ we are making God’s power available which can save somebody. Whenever, you are opportuned to speak about Christ to somebody you are making God’s power available to save that person. God’s power gets demonstrated when we speak or talk… through the gospel basically. That is why we preach, we speak, we witness, we pray, we intercede, we show compassion, and we stand in the gap… Things respond to words Jesus said; If you believe you will say to this mountain be moved and it will actually move… you can say to Alzheimer to move and it will move, we say to cancer to move, and it will move… powers and authorities don’t respect quiet believers.

In fact the proof that you believe is that you speak. Speak to that situation, in the name of Jesus and it will move, it will change… We are not a random people…we are priests… Priest… Someone who has been trained to perform religious duties… What is our religious duty? To preach the good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom, recovery, release, beauty for Ashes, oil of gladness instead of spirit of heaviness, bind up broken hearts, comfort… Isaiah 58 vs 6… Is not this your religious duty? Loose chains; untie cords; set oppressed free; break yoke… You will be called repairer, restorer… We are referred to as a chosen people, a royal Priesthood, a people belonging to God, that we may 5 | Page declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light… 1 Peter 2 vs 9 We are saved to save, we are healed to heal, we are rescued to rescue, we are comforted to comfort somebody…

Our office as a priest is to stand in the gap and pave the way for God to demonstrate His power to save somebody… The good Samaritan cares but the Priest is meant to heal… for they are capable of performing religious duty…every duty comes with power and authority. If the priest knew this fact, he would not have been overwhelmed by the scale of the problem but rather confident in the immense power of God to heal. We are not concerned about how the situation will change. We believe! We speak!! And the power of God becomes available to change the situation. So I don’t need to live under the dominion of an overriding power, I have been rescued and my life is a proof of how powerful God is. Rev 12 vs 11 6 | Page Therefore, we overcame the dragon by the blood of the Lamb (the cross) and the words of our testimony (we speak, we pray, we prophesy)… Jesus Christ rescued us at the cross; those who believe can speak (testimony) and overcome (set free)! Prayer time! Lord, set us free by your power.

We believe, so we speak into every situation that has held people captive. We declare that Jesus Christ rescued us and so we are rescued. Jesus set us free, we are free. Save us O’ Lord and we will be saved, heal us and we will be healed. There is the power of God to save and deliver. We pray that you do something new in our lives that will become the testimony. Those that hear will put their trust in the Lord. We pray forgiveness and healing for our nation. We pray that you show us love and compassion. Show concern for this nation. And do not ignore us. Save for yourself a remnant.

As the European Parliamentary Election approaches (22nd May 2014) O’ Lord, we pray that you raise for Europe leaders after your own heart. Leaders who will rule in righteousness and truth. Leaders who will be strong to uphold the laws and principles of God. Amen.
