You will receive Power! 01/05/14

Bible reading Act 1 vs 6 – 9

For few weeks now we have been expounding the thought the “KOG”. We have had series of session making it clear that the KOG is the way God does his things. The KOG is the operational word or term for how God works or operate. We confirmed that Jesus Christ actually brought the KOG to earth. Jesus Christ came to show us what the KOG is and how it operates. We establish that the KOG is the foundation that Church is built on. (…On this rock/revelation I will build my Church…Matt 16: 18), we deduced that without the KOG the Church cannot stand. Obviously, if there is no foundation; there is no structure. In order words, without the input of the KOG the gate of hell according to the bible will prevail.

This portrays the KOG as the Power house; pivotal and essential part of the church of God. The scriptures resonate the KOG through the ministry of Jesus Christ. The bible described Jesus Christ in Act 10:38… “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil because God was with him”. Studying Jesus Christ has been remarkable in helping us understand the KOG, the role we play in it based on our experience of it.

The main point we have been alluding/referring during our TLC moment is our experience of the KOG. We have to experience the KOG, which in the first few sessions we confirmed through the scriptures that the KOG is good news, freedom for those in captivity, release for those under the oppression of the devil, healing from every illnesses and diseases, favour in the place of frustration, crown of beauty for ashes, oil of gladness instead of mourning, garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair/misery/depression… Luke 4 vs 18 – 19 / Isaiah 61 vs 1, Our body has to experience the KOG, our family have to experience the KOG, our nation have to experience the KOG, our leaders, our patients, our colleagues have to experience the KOG. The role that we play in the KOG is based on our experience of it. We are called to be witnesses of the KOG. We can only bear witness to what we have experienced or are experiencing.

The word “witness” does not mean ‘onlooker’ or ‘spectator’ or ‘observer, No! The word “witness” in this text relates to the word “attest” or “testify”, which means to demonstrate, to exhibit, to show. We are to demonstrate the KOG, we are to exhibit it and show it everywhere we go. We don’t have a choice as to whether we want to be a witness or not. As matter of fact the question is not do I want to be a witness?

Scenario A. 11 years ago when I had my first child, that very day at the hospital I no longer had the choice as to whether or not I want to be a mum, I became a mum!…my choice afterwards was to try and be a good mum.. The same applies to us as Kingdom people (aka Christians), the day you and I decided to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ to be our Lord and saviour, and we began to listen to his voice and obey his leading, and we started experiencing the benefit of salvation; – forgiveness, yoke of sin and the guilt of sin been lifted, hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ, confidence and trust in God through the cross of Christ…we became a “witness”… the choice now is whether we are good witness or bad witness.

Our lives now only tell one story that “Jesus Christ is worth knowing”. Period! Based on our experience of the freedom, release, beauty, healing, gladness, favour, praise and good news that the KOG avail us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Our lives speak volume.

We are not struggling to be a true witness, by the power of the Holy Spirit we can be a true witness.

We are not struggling to be a believer; we are believers still growing in our belief by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Extract from the daily devotional booklet “Word for today” reads… about the very popular CS Lewis… 1st May reading…  We cannot separate the power of the Holy Spirit from our role as witness of the KOG. Prayer time: Act 1 vs 7…And you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has comes on you… The power we need to live a victorious life comes from the Holy Spirit. We ask for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit this afternoon O’ Lord. In the last day, you promised that you will pour out your Holy Spirit upon all people…Joel 2:28 We ask for that outpouring on us, our loved ones, our nation, our colleagues, our patients… So that we can all be empowered to experience the vast benefit of the KOG and be able to consequently demonstrate and show it. We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
